Drawing from highly personal experience, this experimental short film examines the ways that classical music pedagogies may become embedded in the body. Collage is important to the piece as it stitches together even those seemingly disparate conceptual knick-knacks from my memory, whether such be philosopher Martin Heidegger's notion of ekstasis, or the first time I saw MMA fighter Canelo Alvarez clinch in a match. The film additionally grapples with themes of art as risk/refuge, mother-daughter relationships, performance, sexual trauma, forgiveness, and ambiguous healing.

Shades of Orange screened at the John B. Moore Golden Acorn Awards and won a Jury Prize.
